What would have been the audience reaction to Lady Macbeth?

At the beginning of the Shakespeare play, Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is portrayed as being a dominant figure in the relationship and as a strong woman which was unusual for the time that the play was written in. What might have been the audience's reaction towards her? Would it have been shock, intrigue, detest etc. Also why (if there is another reason, apart from the point that I gave)?
