I have some things of my boyfriends/ex stuff that I feel I have to give back to him to move on.?

My boyfriend and I have had a ruff patch the last couple days and finally this weekend he said he needed time and space that the relationship was progressing to fast. For me that meant sorry but I'm done, right isn't that the hidden message. Well anyways so it's been very hard for me cause I really like this guy I fell in love with this guy. I have some of his stuff that he has at my house and just seeing it everyday even not seeing it but knowing that it's there for some reason is making it difficult. I've tried to text him telling him I have his stuff and would like to give it back and he replied with why's it have to be like this. I don't know what that means in men language but kinda sounded like doubt. Anyways my question do I just go over there and drop it off and be done with it so I can try to move on?
