How do we change my stepson's last name to mine?

My wife and I are married. She had a son from a previous relationship. The biological father has never even laid eyes on him. At his birth my wife gave him her last name. Now we are married and have an additional daughter. So three of us share the last name and we want our son to have the same last name. How do we go about doing this? He is six years old.
