Lost my child and shouldn't have!?

I just had court today over my child and she has lived with me for 4 years, the mother wanted her back after giving her to me in 2006. I had a note signed by her saying that she let my daughter live with me i was listed as the primary in all school and other doents. on feb 27 2009 was victim of company downsizing and have been on unemployment since. well the mother unemployed and doing internship at hospital throuh draughn junior college and her husband is on unemployment. but the judge ruled that she could have my daughter based on the fact that i was unemployed. My daughter has been cring all day and is devastated and wants to stay with me. how can they just take her . the judge is a new jugde and is still taking judging cles. this has totally devastated me and my daughter. we have been together everday since she was 2yr. old she be 7 in 2 weeks. someone please tell us what we can do. yes I have a lawyer and it was like it didnt even matter. this is very hard to deal with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
