Occupations related to...?

It's actually a very wide and diverse field. Astronomy deals with observational matters, cosmology and astrophysics with the structure of the universe. Cosmogony deals with the history of the universe. In terms of research, planetology for planets, selenology for moons, stellar physics for stars and galaxies, astrobiolgy for life, theoretical physics for matters such as dark matter, dark energy etc. You will need: A Bachelor of Science degree with Honours, a Master of Science in Astronomy postgraduate degree, possibly a second Masters, a PhD in your chosen field and the some post-doctorate studies. It can mean up to 15 years of study, but it's a lot of fun. I skipped the undergraduate section and went straight into my Masters which is why I myself will need to do a second one after I'm finished. If you're thinking about a career in space research, don't let the amount of study deter you as it is a very rewarding career with a very supportive community of scientists that are only too happy to help you out.
